People with disabilities are ‘forced’ to live and work in a world that is designed for abled people. Besides the difficulties that they are facing on a daily basis regarding accommodations and access, they very often have to deal with abled people’s stigma and ignorance around their illnesses.
So, they’ve decided to take their stories with ‘ableds’ on Twitter, where they are sharing the worse and most ignorant experiences they’ve had with abled people under the hashtag #AbledsAreWeird. Twitter user Imani Barbarin created the hashtag which inspired hundreds of stories which are contributing for both parties. People without disabilities should open their minds and have the much-needed education around it, while the disabled people can feel that they are not alone in this.
